Easter Island Moai

The Moai are iconic monolithic statues carved by the Rapa Nun people on Easter Island in Polynesia between 1250 and 1500 C.E.  There are about 1,000 statues island-wide, famous for their oversized heads and distinct facial features. Contrary to popular belief, most have full bodies that were buried by shifting soil and sediment over centuries
